Professor presented with the Arnold Greene Medal of the IChemE

May 2009

Professor Richard Wakeman was presented with the Arnold Greene Medal of the Institution of Chemical Engineers at the Institution's Annual General Meeting in London on 13 May.

Named after a founder member of the Institution who served as President and Honorary Treasurer, the medal is awarded each year for the most meritorious long-term contribution to the progress of the Institution.

Arnole Greene MedalProfessor Wakeman was presented the medal for his work in connection with the Transactions of the Institution of Chemical Engineers as Executive Editor, a position he held since its inception in 1999 until the end of 2008, having previously been a member of the Editorial Board since 1984.

The Transactions are in four parts - Part A: Chemical Engineering Research and Design, Part B: Process Safety and Environmental Protection, Part C: Food and Bioproducts Processing, and Part D: Education for Chemical Engineers.

When Professor Wakeman joined the Board in 1984 the Transactions was constituted of only one part (now Part A), and he has been closely involved with steering the growth of the journals to their current size and reputation.
