.Title: Email Communication and Workplace Stress

After completing a degree in Information Management and Business Studies at Loughborough, I developed a great interest in my dissertation theme of email interruptions and email addiction. Taking this one step further, the aim of my current research is to investigate the levels of stress caused from emails in the workplace and apply an email management software tool to reduce related stress. With the ever growing use of email communication and more active email users each day, the need to manage the growth of email related stress is crucial to benefit employee welfare.

 Aims & Objectives

Aim (1): Identify the causes of email communication stress and methods to reduce email stress

  • Identify how emails effects a person’s ability to complete their daily tasks
  • Identify the problems that cause email stress
  • Identify and evaluate stress levels on participants
  • Create a list of evaluation criteria of email stress
  • Develop a list of practical solutions and techniques to manage email communication stress

Aim (2): Create and evaluate an email stress management software tool

  • Use Solutions list to create a list of necessary requirements to apply within a software tool
  • Create and develop an email stress management tool
  • Test the software tool on participants
  • Evaluate the software tool including its strengths and weaknesses
