.Title: To B(oldly) Go: A study of the social aspects of ICT usage by older people
This research is being conducted under the umbrella of the New Dynamics of Ageing Programme (NDA) http://newdynamics.group.shef.ac.uk/
More particularly it is part of the SUS-IT Project (Sustaining IT use by older people to promote autonomy and independence)
This work furthers an interest in matters of social inclusion gained from my MA dissertation (Information Science, 2008) on information flows in the field of mental health and housing, where I worked in conjunction with the National Lead for Mental Health and Housing on the National Social Inclusion Programme (NSIP).
The research will explore older people’s views and usage of ICTs for social purposes with the aim of maximising social engagement and combatting social isolation.
