Loughborough University and the Department of Geography have excellent records in terms of academic development and career progression. During their degree, our students develop skills of critical enquiry, problem identification and evaluation, communication (written, oral and visual), data gathering and information retrieval, problem solving and decision-making, and teamwork and leadership.
Our graduates use these skills in a wide range of careers. Some apply their skills in a very subject-oriented way, such as teaching geography, town planning, cartography, infrastructure planning, environmental conservation and environmental management. Other students use their transferable skills to pursue other career paths and our graduates have recently been appointed to posts in administration, finance, management, the armed forces and international aid.
Almost all of our graduates are in employment within a few months of graduating, or progress to postgraduate study. The typical level of employment at the census, six months after graduation, is 96%.
Our graduates are very highly regarded by a wide range of employers and if you come to Loughborough the Careers and Employability Centre is here to help you with any of your plans for the future. Take a look at their website to find out more about careers services at Loughborough.
