Raman spectroscopy in live cell studies.Olga Sosnovtseva Thursday, 2 February, 14.00, W2.19 The talk is based on two examples of use of Raman spectroscopy in live cells studies: (i) We describe how to apply surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and resonance Raman spectroscopy (RS) to study two populations of hemoglobin molecules inside an intact living erythrocyte: submembrane and cytosolic hemoglobin that appeared to have different conformational states. This finding could be successfully used in biomedical research and diagnostic tests, and (ii) We describe an application of Raman microspectroscopy to study Redox state of reduced cytochromes c, c1 and b_high, b_low in mitochondria of live cardiomyocytes and in isolated intact rat hearts under normoxic, ischemia and reperfusion. |
