Everything we see around us has benefitted from the input of design, whether it is a product, service, building, transport network or social interaction.
Design is a key part of economic activity within the UK and has been recognised as one of the means by which the economy can grow in future years.
Many of the environmental and social issues that we face today require a significant contribution from designers from diverse backgrounds including industrial design, engineering design, architecture, process design, software design, system design and so on. All of these disciplines are represented within the research activities at Loughborough University.
The recently formed Research School of Design focuses on bringing together the significant strengths in design research across the university to tackle projects which demand a multidisciplinary approach.
