Chlamydia
Screening
There is a new Chlamydia
Screening Programme in Leicester. Current estimates are that one in ten people
under the age of 25 will have Chlamydia. Most people will not know they have it
because it is often symptomless.
There is a simple test you
can do yourself to see if you have Chlamydia. You can pick up a screening kit in
a plain white bag here at the Medical Centre. The bag contains
everything you need to take the test.
You just need to provide a urine specimen – then simply fill in the form and drop back to
the Medical Centre (before 12.30pm Monday - Friday). All information is
contained in the kits and it includes full instructions.
Results:
You can choose how you are contacted with your result. Texting is the most
common contact method, but results can also be given by phone, letter or
e-mail. All forms of communication are confidential and inconspicuous.
Treatment:
If your test comes
back positive treatment is simple – usually four antibiotic tablets taken in one
go. You can choose where you go to be treated, but you can be treated here
at the medical centre.
Kits and treatment are FREE.
